The Ultimate Candyland Birthday Party

The Ultimate Candyland Birthday Party:

When my little girl turned 3 years old, she was into board games of all kinds. Her absolute favorite was Candyland, so I decided to use it as the theme for her birthday party. When I scoured the Internet, there weren’t many ideas on how to throw a Candyland birthday party, so I got creative and made my own. Here are some 5 great tips so you can give your child the greatest Candyland Birthday party ever!

Candyland Birthday Party Tip #1:

You can find Candyland themed plates and napkins online, or you can make your own by buying square plates in various colors, candy covered plates, or peppermint striped plates. For cups, you can use multi-colored see through plastic cups or buy the more expensive Candy Land themed cups. Since CandylLand is colorful, so just make sure to use a variety of colors to add to the festivity without breaking your bank account.

Candyland Birthday Party Tip #2:

Tips for making a Candyland CakeMake the cake!! You can make a Candy Land board game cake easily, even if you are a beginner. All you need is one 9x14 sheet cake; cooled and iced with white butter cream or fluffy white icing. Then use multi colored fondant icing to create the squares. You can purchase fondant icing at any bakery or cake decorating shop. Fondant rolls out easily like play dough so you can cut the Candy Land pathway easily. Once you have created the square pathway, it’s time to add the candy! I used broken peppermints, small gummy bears, rainbow sour stripes, lollipops, and gumdrops, but you can use whatever candy you think your child would like. After the top is decorated, I used the Candyland gingerbread men playing pieces as the final touch. It actually looked like we were playing the game!

Candyland Birthday Party Tip #3:

No birthday party would be complete without games!! If your child is having a small birthday party with fewer than 5 children, you could actually play the game Candyland and offer a prize to the winner. But for larger groups, a candy walk is perfect. Use brightly colored construction paper and laminate them prior to the party. The idea is to make them look like the squares on the board game. Only use the color one time…if need be, you can use the double squares like the cards! Once you have the laminated pieces, set them up on the floor in a circular, winding pattern. Have the children stand on a square and walk the pathway while you play music. When you stop the music, each child should stand on a square while you pull a Candy Land card from the deck. The child that is standing on that color square gets to pick a “candy” prize from the Candy Bag and sits out. Then the game continues in this way until all the children have completed the walk and won a prize from the Candy Bag! You can always use a piñata filled with candy if you are short on time, or if you have older children.

Candyland Birthday Party Tip #4:

You can make your own Candyland  invitations. For the invitations, have your child cut brightly colored stock paper into small squares that match the board game. Paste those squares onto a white card in a winding pattern. Then have your child place candy stickers on the front of the card around the “candy land path” you have just created. On the inside of the card write the times and locations and have your child sign them!

Candyland Birthday Party Tip #5:

Make your own Candy Land thank you cards. For the thank you cards, take a digital photo of your child holding the gift in her hands next to a brightly colored sign that says “THANK YOU”. Paste this photo onto a 4x6 sheet of bright construction paper and have your child sign their name. This thank you card is simple and personal.
